Policy Priorities

Where Business Leads for the Public Good

At the Roundtable, we believe Tennessee’s long-term prosperity depends on smart, forward-thinking policy—shaped not only by lawmakers, but by the business leaders who live its impact every day.

Our policy efforts focus on a key question: What must our state do today to position Tennesseans and our businesses to be successful a decade or generation from now?

Each year, our policy priorities reflect the most important, emerging opportunities facing Tennessee’s business climate, workforce, and communities. Our work is nonpartisan, fact-based, and rooted in the belief that what’s good for people is good for business—and vice versa…”Not for Ourselves Alone, But for All Tennessee”.

In 2025, we are focused on four key areas:

Kindergarten
Education

Preparing students for meaningful careers and lifelong success by strengthening early education, K-12 academic standards and performance, postsecondary pathways and credentials, and partnerships between schools and employers.

Workers Wearing Helmets and Jackets
Workforce

Building a strong, resilient workforce by aligning education, training, and resources needed to grow Tennessee’s labor force and to support each working-aged Tennessean in achieving their full potential within our state’s workforce and participating fully in the marketplace.

Applicants in the waiting room
Competitiveness

Creating a business climate in which companies thrive through tax and regulatory certainty, freedom to innovate, state fiscal discipline, and a fair and independent judiciary, welcoming all committed to respecting the law and each other who want to contribute to Tennessee’s economic prosperity.

Operating Room
Health

Helping working-aged Tennesseans to attain and maintain the quality of health they need to participate in our state’s labor force and to perform to their full potential within our workforce, with a focus on access, affordability, and quality.
