Haslam, McQueen, New Members Highlight TBR 2018 Annual Meeting
Governor Bill Haslam received TBR’s Gordon Fee Leadership in Education Award at our Annual Meeting. TBR’s Executive Committee voted unanimously to bestow on him our Roundtable’s highest honor, which has now been awarded only six times since its inception in 2008 and is now named after longtime TBR member leader Gordon Fee.
In his acceptance remarks, Gov. Haslam told TBR’s business leaders that the most important thing they can do to ensure lasting educational progress in Tennessee is to “keep on doing what you’re doing”—providing a voice for Tennessee’s business community in support of education and other policy improvements.
TN Dept. of Education Commissioner Candice McQueen updated Annual Meeting attendees on Tennessee’s progress in implementing her department’s strategic plan for K-12 education, TN Succeeds. Click here to view/download Commissioner McQueen’s update.
