Annual Meeting
The Tennessee Business Roundtable’s Annual Meeting
is held in April. The Annual Meeting will feature prominent speakers on key legislative and policy issues.
The meeting focuses on the mission of Tennessee Business Roundtable and updates members on pertinent agenda items.
This year we will conduct a legislative "Day on the Hill' where Tennessee Business Roundtable members can meet with members of the legislature. A membership reception is held after the meeting. Next Meeting: March 18th, 2008 - Hermitage Hotel, Nashville, TN

Regional Meetings
Regional Meetings are held for TBR members and other area
business leaders as various issues arise. These meetings
are called and confirmed as schedules permit and generally
scheduled during summer and fall. Next Meeting: TBA
Planning Session
In the fall of the year, the Executive Committee, Board
Members, and Presidents Council meet to plan the agenda
for the Annual Meeting and to develop the priorities for
the upcoming year.

Executive Committee
The TBR Executive Committee holds monthly conference calls
to discuss current issues and activities. The Executive
Committee and the Board may have special meetings called
by the President.
Legislative Committee
TBR Members are encouraged to attend Legislative Committee
Meetings when relevant issues may be discussed. On occasion,
members are asked to make presentations before Legislative
Committees.
As we bring new members into the Roundtable, it is important to share these members and their businesses with our current membership. The new member profile for July is
John Clark, President and Chief Executive Officer of First State Bank
Clark is the President and chief executive officer of First State Bank and Community First Bancshares
which is headquartered in Union City, TN. He has 30 years of banking experience being employed with this corporation since June, 1976. He has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has served in various offices and locations such as: the Bank of Sharon in Sharon, TN, City State Bank in Martin TN, Weakley County Bank in Dresden TN and
First State Bank in Union City, TN. Clark also serves as a director of Community First Bancshares, Inc. and First State Bank.
His responsibilities include overseeing the operation of Community First Bancshares and First State Bank. First State Bank, established in 1887, has 25 full-service banking locations in more than 20 communities throughout West and Middle Tennessee. The banking company has assets totaling more than $900 million. The bank has full-service offices in the communities of Dyer, Henderson, Madison, Obion, Tipton, Robertson, Shelby, Sumner and Weakley Counties in Tennessee. Its metropolitan markets include Gallatin, Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Jackson, Memphis, and Nashville. Subsidiaries and divisions of First State Bank include Community Choice Financial Services, First State Mortgage, First Auto, First State Investment Center and First State Insurance.
A Madison County native, Clark attended and received degrees from undergraduate school at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and graduate school at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is a graduate of the Tennessee Young Bankers School and the School of Banking of the South. Clark has served on the Banking Advisory committee for the Horace Dunagan Chair of Excellence at UT Martin, the UT Martin Development Committee, and UTM School of Business Administration Advisory Board. He is also a past board member and Chairman of the Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin TN; past director and President of the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce; past Chairman of Weakley County United Way and West TN United Way; and a graduate of Leadership Weakley County and WestStar. He is a present member of the Weakley County Economic Development Committee and a current director of the TN Bankers Association. He is also an Elder at New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Weakley County. Clark and his wife, Janie, have three children and they reside in Sharon, TN.
