“I commend the Tennessee Business Roundtable on hosting the TBR Gubernatorial Round-Robin. It was productive to hear the thoughts and positions of the candidates especially around the pressing issues of education and business environment. The format allowed for the audience to both compare the candidates on a consistent line of questioning and to ask questions that were of personal interest.“

“TBR’s Gubernatorial Round-Robin was very well done and informative. The 20-minute-per-candidate, non-debate format allowed each participant to respond individually to the set questions on education, health, state finances, and workforce issues, which gave the audience insight into each candidate’s thoughts and personality. From this ‘baseline’ set by TBR, it will be interesting for me and other attendees to see how the candidates’ views, positions and priorities evolve as the 2018 gubernatorial campaign continues.”

In connection with our 2017 Fall Board Meeting on September 12 in Nashville, we’re excited to announce that TBR hosted the 2018 Tennessee gubernatorial candidates for remarks and Q&A that morning.

Event:  TBR 2018 Gubernatorial Round-Robin

Date/Time:  Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 10:00-12:15

Location:  Lecture Hall, John Seigenthaler Center, Vanderbilt University, 1207 18th Ave. South, Nashville, TN

Format:  In this one-of-a-kind executive session, we invited each declared 2018 gubernatorial candidate to share brief remarks outlining their vision for leading Tennessee’s economy forward as our next Governor, then to answer a short number of questions. Candidates then visited with our audience one by one in “round-robin” fashion, rather than appearing together.

Host:  We are excited to have had Nashville journalist, PR pro and political commentator Pat Nolan join us as the facilitator for the Round-Robin!

Invited:   Each TBR Member principal was invited to attend. In addition, each Member  invited up to two C-suite-level executives from non-TBR companies to attend as his/her guest.  Attendance was via non-transferable invitation from TBR only, drawn from Members’ requests.

Thank you to all who attended and made the event a success!
